Frequently Asked Questions:
What's the Withlacoochee River Forest Float like?
The Withlacoochee trip is 9 miles which is 3 to 4 hours paddling, or 5 to
6 hours drifting (4 to 6 hour average.)
Much more remote than the Rainbow trip, but not a pure spring, so it's not
crystal clear like the Rainbow. It's tannic tinted like most Florida
rivers.
Does the Rainbow River K.P. Hole Float have to be only 2 to 3 hours?
What's it like?
The Rainbow trip is 4.5 miles downstream which is 2 hours paddling, 3
hours drifting, but can be up to 7.5 miles (3 to 5 hour average) if you
paddle to the headsprings.
Rainbow River is Crystal Clear, one of the largest springs in the world,
but not a very remote trip, unlike the Withlacoochee.
Are there places to stop along the way on either trip?
There are only a few public areas along the way, so pick your stops
carefully. If you do stop, please stay out of the tree branches! They're
full of wasp nests!
What exactly does the no-disposable food and drink container law mean?
If you are bringing food and drinks, please make sure they are in
non-disposable, dishwasher-safe containers. There are many city, county,
and state officials that patrol the river and they can fine you for having
disposable food or drink containers in your boat. Don't have Coke cans,
Gatorade bottles, Doritos bags, etc. They are illegal on the Rainbow!
Thermos', travel mugs, tupperware, gladware, camelbacks, nalgene bottles,
etc. are all dishwasher safe and reusable. These are legal on the
Rainbow.
Are the prices per person or per boat?
The prices are per boat. With the 10% reservation discount, canoes and
tandem kayaks are $43.35 each for the Withlacoochee trip and $38.50 for
the Rainbow trip.
Single kayaks are $33.70 for the Withlacoochee trip and $28.89 for the
Rainbow trip.
Remember, if you decide to do the Rainbow trip, there is a $3 fee per
person at the put-in
When do you run shuttles, and are we shuttled in the beginning or at
the end?
We run shuttles every hour on the hour for the Withlacoochee trip from 9am
to noon, 9am til 2pm for the Rainbow.
We ask that you're here at least 20 minutes prior to your departure time.
We shuttle you upriver and you float back to your car on either trip.
What information do you need to make a
reservation?
Please let us know which date and shuttle time you'd prefer, along with
the number of people, boat preferences, and choice of river trip. We also
ask for a cell phone number.
We look forward to seeing you on the river!
